Job role notesSalary: £15 per hour
Hours: 3 hours per week – Saturday 09:30-12:30
Location: Lea Manor Recreation Centre

About the role
We are looking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydra Assistant Swimming Teacher to join our aquatics team. In this role, you’ll support our Swimming Teachers in delivering high-quality lessons to children and adults, helping them develop essential swimming and water safety skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are starting out in your swim teaching career and want to gain experience, with the chance to progress into a fully qualified Level 2 Swim Teacher role.

What you’ll be doing
• Assisting Swimming Teachers in preparing and delivering lessons to the required standards.
• Supporting the delivery of lessons for people of all ages and abilities.
• Encouraging swimmers to develop their skills and progress through awards schemes.
• Helping to provide lesson feedback and progress reports under the guidance of the teacher.
• Setting up and maintaining equipment for lessons.
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all swimmers.
• Carrying out administrative tasks as required and maintaining contact with on-site staff.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone passionate about swimming and teaching, who enjoys working with children and adults in a positive and encouraging way. You should be reliable, flexible, and a team player with good communication skills.

This role is ideal if you want to gain more experience in swim teaching, with opportunities for further development and training.

Skills
Essential:
• ASA/Swim England Level 1 Assistant Swimming Teacher Certificate.
• Experience of working in a leisure environment.
• Good communication skills, able to interact politely and effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently (with guidance) and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety in a swimming pool environment.
• Ability to prepare and set up equipment.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Desirable:
• NPLQ.
• Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
• Knowledge of ASA standards for swimming teaching.
• Experience assisting with lesson plans or progress documentation.
