Location: Lea Manor Recreation Centre
About the role
We’re looking for a practical, proactive and hands-on individual to help us maintain and prepare our synthetic sports pitch and equipment at one of our busy leisure centres. This role is vital to the safe and effective running of the centre’s sports programmes and bookings. You’ll work closely with the Activity Leader and Duty Manager to ensure the pitch is clean, well-maintained, and ready for use – helping provide a high-quality environment for our customers.
What you’ll be doing
• Preparing and maintaining the synthetic pitch using specialist machinery (tractor and attachments)
• Conducting routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment
• Setting up and taking down sports equipment for bookings and centre programmes
• Keeping the pitch and surrounding areas clean, tidy and litter-free
• Assisting customers with enquiries or directing them to the right person
• Completing service records and reporting maintenance concerns
• Supporting a safe and welcoming environment by adhering to safety procedures and Active Luton policies
Skills
• Experience of working on synthetic pitches or similar environments
• Able to move and handle sports equipment safely
• Able to work within set procedures and record basic written information
• Polite and tactful when dealing with a wide range of people
• Basic understanding of equal opportunities
• Basic knowledge of health & safety in a sports/leisure setting
• Ability to drive a small tractor (or willingness to learn)
